The Lancaster Avenue Harvest Film Festival is part of a sustained effort to provide a platform for the community’s artists to use their voices to tell their own stories.  So, we are hoping local filmmakers creating “for the culture” will bring their work to West Philadelphia to be celebrated!

Finding Elijah

Produced by his mother, Yolanda Johnson-Young, “Finding Elijah” is a documentary film that follows a young man’s journey from home into mental illness, to homelessness, and ultimately to suicide. It explores how a search for answers leads a mother to action. Using interviews, archival footage and Elijah's original art/photos; he is given a voice in the film.

​T.E.M.P.L.E. -Tell 'Em My People Leave Enriched

Tell ‘Em My People Leave Enriched is a documentary about Lamont Nathaniel Gibson, an African-American, North Philadelphian filmmaker coming to terms with the forced changes to his home neighborhood by the expansion of his soon-to-be alma mater, Temple University. Shot during the Trump administration, and wrestling with themes of generational poverty, gentrification, and racism, T.E.M.P.L.E. follows Lamont as he studies at a university while it rearranges the landscape he once called home.

Real Dads, Strong Families

The Real Dads, Strong Families video is a non-profit video designed for new fathers, new moms and other family and community members. It is also a tool for training and educational purposes. The video aims to meet the following objectives: to explain why a father’s involvement with his child can positively impact his health and his child’s development and long-term health promoting resources that support their efforts to be a positive role model and a continuous presence in their child’s lives. The Father's workgroup worked with filmmaker, Zack Sievers, to film the video at different locations  and organizations in Philadelphia.

Produced by Einstein Medical Facility in collaboration with: The Philadelphia, Maternal and Infant Community Action Network: a collective impact effort that includes 30 maternal and infant health organizations in Philadelphia, funded in part by HRSA the Maternal and Child Health Bureau’s Healthy Start program.
